Sleepytime Storytime

Man, I don't know which of these two looks more tired (probably dad). It's pre-bedtime storytime. Xavier's all wrapped up in his sleep sack, and dad is giving voice to X's favorite novel, Hippos Go Berserk, by Sandra Boynton.

For those of you not in the know, this book is a classic. Well thought out and developed plot with characters you can easily identify and empathize with.

Hippos Go Berserk is akin to most 80's coming of age films. The plot revolves around a party on one crazy night, the build up to said party, and the unavoidable aftermath the morning after.

Spoiler alert: The hands-down best part is when ALL the hippos go berserk.

Xavier: "Out of ten stars, I give it eleven."

I don't wanna work...

I Just wanna bang on the drum all day! This may not be what Todd Rundgren had in mind, but little X is making due. He loves whaling away on one of his favorite "toys", the bucket Grandma gave him at the beach.

Drum roll please.

"I can take the lid off. Consider yourself lucky that this isn't whoop-ass."

"Excuse me, but I believe I ordered the large cappuccino? Hello!"

Slappy Inception

Impromptu bout of slappy hands with mom erupts.

Mom shows absolutely no mercy. Just in case there was any question about who the winner was...

...Mom immediately shows him the video Dad recorded of the beat down, and dad makes a new video of Xavier watching the brutality. Dad and Mom then proceed to play both videos for son simultaneously while reaching for a third phone... but manage to reign themselves in at the last moment, thus avoiding the video, inside of a video, inside of a video.

Captain Bedtime

"Hey mom! It can't be bedtime already, can it? I'm way too wired for sleep!"

"I'm a non-stop giggle box! Why don't you stay right here while I show you a little something I've been working on."

"Are you watching? Check this out."

"SOMEONE'S GOT A LITTLE CAPTAIN IN THEM! The girls in daycare love that move."

"Wait wait, it's not bedtime yet. The show must go on! Watch this next move!"

"Ready for this? I'm just gonna whip this leg right on over this here stool and straddle this baby like a horse. No way this will hurt."

"Ow."

"Slowly backing off the stool... biting lip to chase down the pain..."

"So yeah, I think I'm ready for bed now."

"C'mon dad, let's get this boy all wrapped up."

"Bah, who needs the wrap when I've got dad. Goodnight world!"

Rumblin' Stumblin'

Yup. After those initial baby steps and with much trial and error, our little X is upwardly mobile.

Chicken Hawk!

"Mom made chicken and noodles for dinner! I dove in head first, and what I didn't shovel into my mouth found a home on my face and in my hair. You might be able to wipe my face and take off my bib, but I'm gonna need a bath for sure. Wait, what are ya doin dad? You're supposed to get it out, not rub it in!"

"I think I see where you're goin with this."

"Heh heh. Edible styling gel."

"Get me a mirror. Now!"

"Oh yeah, that's nice. This could be my new look."

"Quick you guys, grab the clippers and hit up my sides! Faux hawks are for wimps. Let's make this real!"
